Avram Greenspan, M.D., FAAP

 

Dr. Greenspan attended Washington University in St. Louis undergraduate and did graduate work at St. Louis University prior to attending New York University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at NYU/Bellevue Medical Center. He grew up in New Rochelle, New York. He followed in his father’s footsteps to become a Pediatrician. He has practiced primary care pediatrics in Redwood City since April of 1988.

Dr. Greenspan lives in San Carlos with his wife Sheryl, a Registered Nurse, two daughters, Shaina and Hannah, both students at UC Davis and his boys, Ollie and Simon, our office mascots.

In his time off, Dr. Greenspan travels to Arizona enjoying time with his family and friends. He loves cooking, listening to music, reading, and working out at the gym and rooting for the New York Yankees.

Dr. Greenspan loves practicing pediatrics while forming close bonds with the children and families.

Laurie A. Rubenstein, M.D., FAAP

 

Dr. Laurie Rubenstein grew up in Southern California.  She graduated from UC Irvine and then went to medical school at Wayne State in Detroit, MI.  She completed her pediatric training at Kaiser Los Angeles and then was Chief Resident at Mt. Zion/UCSF in San Francisco.  

She has been practicing on the peninsula since graduation.

She lives in Los Altos with her husband, Dr. Hector Medina, who practices OB-GYN in Mountain View. They have two grown daughters - Ariana, an interior designer, who lives with her husband in San Francisco; and Alexis, a senior at USC, studying Digital Media and Marketing.

When Dr. Laurie isn't working, she enjoys traveling, reading, exercising, and spending times with her family and friends, and cheering for the SF Giants and 49ers.

Dr. Laurie loves her work and values the relationships she has with her patients and their families.  Her parents were both school teachers which she feels is engrained in her philosophy for making each encounter a time for learning and exchanging ideas.

Deanna Ward, M.D., MPH, FAAP

Dr. Ward is currently on maternity leave and will return May 2, 2012

Dr. Deanna completed her bachelor's degree from UC Santa Cruz, and her Masters degree in Public Health from Loma Linda University. She then received her medical degree from the University of Michigan, and completed a dual program in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics from Rush University in Chicago. After residency she returned to the bay area and has been practicing primary care for the past 4 years.

She lives with her husband and new baby in San Jose. She and her husband converted their backyard into an urban farm, and she enjoys spending time gardening and eating their homegrown fruits and veggies. She also loves running, weight lifting, and watching Michigan football and Chicago Cubs baseball.  Her most recent interests are baking and photography.

Dr. Deanna truly loves her career in medicine. She has a special interest in patients with special needs and developmental disabilities. She cherishes the special opportunity she has to form relationships with her patients, and finds great pleasure in providing guidance and medical care for patients throughout their life span.

Emily Ting, M.D.

Dr. Emily Ting grew up in San Jose. She received her bachelors degree from UC Berkeley and her medical degree from UC San Diego. She went on to do her pediatric training at Harbor- UCLA Medical Center. Over the past ten years, Dr. Ting has worked both on the west coast and the east coast and  in private practices as well as in academic centers, most recently  in New York. After sixteen years of being away, Dr. Ting is happy to be back in the bay area and is excited to join Pediatric Associates of Redwood City. She loves the human aspect of medicine and enjoys learning about her patients and sharing her knowledge with them.

In her spare time, Dr. Ting enjoys spending time with her husband and two young
kids, keeping fit, visiting family and friends and traveling to new places.


 

Sheryl B. Greenspan, RN, BSN

Sheryl is our Office Manager and Clinical Nurse. She met Dr. Greenspan over a newborn baby at Bellevue Hospital in 1984. Sheryl was the director of the Perinatal Dept at Sequoia Hospital. She is a lactation nurse and works closely with our breast feeding families. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science at Skidmore College. Sheryl has two daughters at UC DAVIS. She loves to cook, read, spend time in Arizona and is a huge NY Yankee fan.

Kelly Reutlinger, Office Administrator

Kelly is our Office Administrator and is here to assist you with all of your billing needs, scheduling exams and heading up our reminder system for preventive care exams. She consistently updates our office with new systems to meet the needs of our patients and physicians. She graduated with a BA from the University of Hayward. On her days off she likes to spend time with her family. Kelly married her high school sweetheart and they have two children 8 and 10 years old. She lives in San Carlos. Her hobbies are reading, knitting and exercise. Kelly roots for the San Francisco Giants and the 49ers.

Our Medical Assisting Team:

Kamal Kaur, CMA, Certified Medical Assistant

Kamal is a Certified Medical Assistant with certificates from the National and State Medical Assistant’s programs.  She lives in Sunnyvale and enjoys cooking Indian food, house cleaning, watching television, gardening and listening to Indian music. Kamal is happily married and has two children, a daughter in high school and a son attending UC Irvine. She roots for the Spurs and SF Giants.

Heather Lamerdin,CMA, Certified Medical Assistant

Heather is a graduate of Springfield Technical College in Springfield, Massachusetts. She graduated from the Medical Assisting Certificate Program with honors and did her externship at Mercy Medical Center and Life Laboratories in Springfield, Mass. She has worked as a CMA in Adult and Pediatrics Family medicine before relocating back to the Bay Area in February of 2011 and is now working at Redwood City Pediatrics and loving it!  She has been married for 12 yrs and have 3 children, ranging from age 20yrs to 5 yrs. She enjoys traveling to new places, camping, biking, reading, and community outreach.  She states, "I feel blessed to be able to work in a wonderful practice who shares the same passion I have for providing the best health care possible".

She holds the following certifications:

• CMA with AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants)
• RMA with American Medical Technologists
• CPR and AED with the AHA

Maggi Pixcar, MAA, Medical Administrative Assistant 

Maggi is Certified in CPR, HIPPA and Osha training. She lives in Redwood City with her family and has two brothers. She enjoys cooking, watching movies, running and listening to music. She enjoys trying new foods from all over the world. She feels knowledge is power and learning is essential. She enjoys helping others. Her favorite pastime is supporting the SF Giants and loves professional soccer, especially when Argentina and Brazil play.

Samantha Short, MA, Medical Assistant

Samantha is recent graduate of the medical assisting program at Heald college in Hayward and is currently studying for her certification. She is CPR and HIPPA certified. She lives in Fremont with her family which includes her 2 year old son and two dogs who are like her children as well. She enjoys spending lots of time with her family and friends and rooting for the SF Giants.
